Using science to improve athletic enhancement
Our fitness program focuses on increasing coordination, agility, speed, and power through strength development. High intensity interval training (HIIT) is used to increase physiological limits.
HIIT can be used to increase rate of movement and endurance for athletic enhancement. Once a functional capacity is reached, the exercise program will work at optimizing metabolic systems that shape the expression of strength and power. Emphasis is put on developing power. Workouts goals shift from daily response to damage to long term adaptation. To learn more about the program’s philosophy, go here:
Our approach to strength building uses HIIT with shorter durations and lighter weights. With our workouts, you will build strength without the traditional “exercise until failure” style most are used to doing. To understand more about the scientific principles that go behind the workouts, go here:
What will I do in this program?
AFA’s Athletic Enhancement is a 1 hour bootcamp for 6 weeks. The bootcamp takes place at the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center, with multiple class times and days. Choose either Tuesday or Thursday and a start time of 6:00am, 9:30am, or 4:00pm.
What are some of the activities in the bootcamp? –
- Box Breathing
- Yoga
- Dynamic stretching
- Upper body and lower body strength intervals.
- Jump rope
- Cones
- Agility ladder
- Sprints pro ability shuttle and 80 foot sprint time.
Equipment
Bluetooth speaker, yoga mat, yoga blocks, jump rope, cones, fitness ball
Reserve a Spot
Click on the “Reserve Spot” button that best matches the style of class you want to attend. On the first day of the program, we will assess your physical capabilities, and repeat the process midway through and at the end to assure that the program is effective for you.
