Research has shown that the stronger you are, the healthier you are. While that may sound obvious, what may be surprising is that strength can affect your brain functioning and happiness. So at Advanced Fitness & Athletics (AFA), our goal is to improve your overall strength – no matter where your abilities are at this moment – so you’re happier and healthier. Our approach to strength building uses high intensity interval training (HIIT) with shorter durations and lighter weights. With our workouts, you will build strength without the traditional “exercise until failure” style most are used to doing. What will we do in this program?
AFA has two programs that meet for 6 week duration at the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center. No matter what your capabilities are, we have a program that can help you progress in your fitness journey.
Healthy Fitness Gateway Program Clinic- Designed for clients in the first three levels of the fitness continuum. Classes are for 45 minutes and meet once a week. Class one material is a fitness assessment, introduction to yoga and developing power. Class two material is dynamic stretching and warrior/triangle yoga. Class three material is developing strength and balance yoga. Class four material is jump rope and developing endurance. Class five material is use of dumbbells. Class six material is wrap up and final fitness assessment.
Healthy Fitness Gateway Program Bootcamp- Classes are for 45 minutes and include a yoga preparation and/or dynamic warm-up, dynamic movement, functional and core development, dynamic dumbbell, and yoga cooldown. Classes meet once a week.
Equipment
Bluetooth speaker, yoga mat, yoga blocks, jump rope, cones, dumbbells 2-15 pounds, chairs and other furniture depending on mobility
Reserve a Spot
Click on the “Reserve Spot” button that best matches the style of class you want to attend. On the first day of the program, we will assess your physical capabilities, and repeat the process midway through and at the end to assure that the program is effective for you.
