The Program's Philosophy

Make Muscles Grow

Most exercise programs are based on the model of “no pain no gain.” Using that model of fitness, participants need to do damage to their body in order to make it better.

We Believe There's A Better Workout

The answer is conditioning the energy systems of the body in order to make muscles grow. The science is simple: if a muscle thinks it needs to store more energy to get through the day, it will grow in order to hold more energy.

AAF’s Healthy Fitness Gateway programs applies the science of high intensity interval training to trick the body into thinking it requires more energy to get through the day. High intensity interval training programs are used by Olympic athletes to get ready for competition. Healthy fitness gateway programs uses variable intensity interval training to replicate the results for a population who is unconditioned with or without diseases or disorders.

How did Advanced Fitness & Athletics Begin?

Aric Anderson created AAF’s Healthy Fitness Gateway as an alternative for individuals who needing to improve overall wellness – physically, mentally, and emotionally – after his or her battle with cancer.  For them, the “no pain, no gain” mentality could actually harm their recovery process.

Better for Everyone

What we have seen is that the Healthy Fitness Gateway program is better not only for cancer recovery patients, but for everyone trying to achieve overall wellness.  That is why we have opened the program up to all types of people.  As well,  we added new levels for those that want to strive for peak fitness – for example, being able to participate in a marathon.
